Real is good, it’s what makes you who you are.
Too many labels, roles to answer to.
Why haven’t you taken the time to see me?
Why haven’t you prioritised me like you do the many tasks on your list?
Look at me square in the eye with the same laser focus you do when working towards your goals.
Why haven’t you seen me?
To be a woman is not just about our femininity.
To be a woman is not just about the careers we hold, wives, mothers, friends, businesses and all the other positions you hold.
How did I get here?
The expectation that okay is not good enough.
To be unrecognisable, amongst the peacocks, to feel that the very fibre of me feels eroded, by noise upon noise
Why don’t you see me?
Sometimes I just want to scream STOP but it’s trapped within.
Why don’t you see me?
They say when you know better, you do better but it’s not that I don’t know better. It’s just that sometimes, the demands can be an unwanted invisible weight, carried not for me at times but a sculpted design, not by me, but by others. It’s no surprise, we are stifled by expectations so vast that we slide by looking at who’s before me.
Why can’t I see me? How did I get here?
Why has society shaped me to not see me but unbeknown to me?
1 door..
2 doors..
tap tap tap..
My chest beats like warrior drums beckoning me…
Am I not open to the change within? Am I not listening?
My heart is open and accepting…
I feel like I’ve been on this journey before. Time lapses, but real is good, real is now, real is being fully present to accept which is within.
What is it to be unapologetically you?
Everything is not relevant.. so be you, love you and trust you to take care of you.
I needed to read this. a reminder to self! thankyou.
Thank you Nadia!
